Scalcione and Frigieri among the prize-winners at the Salsomaggiore Festival
An excellent tournament for FM Michelangelo Scalcione and CM Fabrizio Frigieri at the 18th Salsomaggiore Terme international festival. Both finished the tournament with 3.5 points out of 5 and on tie-break the final standings of Open A (30 participants) see Scalcione in 5th place overall and Frigieri in 7th place overall. Frigieri also finished first in the 2000 - 2200 band. The Filipino GM Sanchez wins the tournament, ahead on tie-break of International Masters Mrdja and Hresc. An excellent tournament also for the young Massimiliano Ballista, who is rapidly approaching the category of Candidate Master. A good tournament in Open B (48 participants) also for the youngsters Mattia Simonini and Cesare Wang.
